It never ceases to amaze me how much applying a framework to an activity creates a new perspective-- so far in the short time I've been integrating the MP framework into my thoughts and trying to apply them to action, I'm reminded of my virtues and my foibles, but the perspective that MP has given me, even in the brief time I've been trying to "live it" renews my optimism, while also reinvigorating so many brain cells I thought I'd let go of-- good and bad-- just like with physical exercise no-pain no-gain--
P.S. This post makes me think: "The punctuation is all wrong" "the readers will think this is stupid" "I am supposed to post" "No shortcuts" "Is it better to be silent and have everyone think I'm a fool or remove all doubt by posting" "Set an example" "It's not perfect" "It's Perfect"

Each post is a gift to the community!!! Sounds corny, but I really mean it. If we all remain silent, the bigger the possibility of each of us thinking that we are peculiar, in some way or another. By contributing your view to the community it help others feel that they are not the only one's with such feelings.
ReplyDeleteThat is why I am so committed to Mental Pilates being a community, not some body of knowledge that gets doled out. What I want to create is a community of people who share a common vision, to develop an understanding of our life experience and to become skilled at living it.
Thank you for your contribution. It is valued and I hope you experience some smidgen of fulfillment as being a "member in good standing" of our community!!!!
I really identify with these thoughts Marla. It does seem like tuning in opens my eyes to things that are encouraging and things for me to work on. In each part of the core identity, there is the yang. I get kudos for working hard, but then also become aware of moments when I am not so diligent. I think one of the greatest gifts of the awareness journal is how it fits into the whole "know thyself" phenomena...just in knowing my tendencies better I am feeling more at ease!
ReplyDeleteI love the "no pain no gain" analogy!!
ReplyDeleteHaving lived through the genesis of MP, the research, the discovery, the ah-ha's ... the similarities between the physical and the mental exercise and practice continue to impress. MP is so "duh" and straightforward, so why don't we all rev those brain cells? But we know that, too! :)
