As we have learned, it all comes down to steering. Being unconscious is bad. Unconscious thought patterns are bringing us down.
What I want to ask the group is: can we drift unconsciously through life with rose colored glasses? And if we can is that bad?
As we know from my favorite George Bernard Shaw quote, to drift (i.e. to be unconscious) is to be in hell and to steer (i.e. to be conscious) is to be in heaven!!!
ReplyDeleteThe goal is to be conscious of even the little things that you do in your day that contribute to the promotion of the flow of vitality. Even little things like brushing your teeth, flossing, buckling your seatbelt or folding laundry are tasks that, if recognized as such, could contribute towards your sense of having accomplished something meaningful. No matter what the color of your glasses, if you are drifting, you are not aware of your identity, purpose and vision. The events don't reonate deeply because they are just random things occuring in your life. Where meaning takes hold is by having a explicit sense of who you are, what your purpose is and what vision elicits vitality....then accomplishing tasks that contribute towards the realization of that elicits vitality!!!!
Steer, steer, steer. That is the way!!!!!!
If ignorance is bliss why are we so determined to know it all and be so "aware?" Sign me up for a pair of those glasses! :)
ReplyDeleteWhile it would be swell if we could, I agree fully with Andy that steering is the correct way to go...otherwise new positive results / directions will not be realized.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of a memorable moment in my life. When I was a miserable 13-year-old with no friends, no life ... out of the blue one day my Dad came home with a pair of rose colored sunglasses and the 45 record "Cracklin' Rosie" by Neil Diamond. His unusual gesture (finances were tight and some necessity probably wasn't purchased instead) had the desired effect of redirecting my awareness and perking my spirits! So rose colored glasses aren't all that bad! (And no cracks about Neil Diamond!) :)
